Electrical Engineer Technician

Cummins Bridgeway is looking to fill a Electrical Engineer Technician position in the New Hudson Engineering Department.

 

Job Summary:
Design, develop, maintain, and support engineering activities related to diesel and natural gas power units manufactured by Cummins Bridgeway, LLC. / Cummins Power Products. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronic units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
  • Integrate electrical/electro-mechanical components into a diesel engineering power unit.
  • Utilize Pro Engineer software as a design tool to develop new Cummins Power Products models, incorporating customer driven / specific features. 
  • Provide technical support and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during and after construction to Cummins Bridgeway / Cummins Power Products, partners and customers.
  • Assemble, test and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics using hand and power tools. 
  • Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronics components, using hand tools and soldering iron. 
  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles. 
  • Modify electrical control systems and solid state equipment. 
  • Maintain a high level of accountability for quality and quantity of work performed. 
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions and record results.
  • Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. 
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing assembly, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements. 
  • Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products.
  • Support power unit production issues as necessary.
  • Ensure that all components meet or exceed Cummins application guidelines.

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree plus related experience or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering desired.
  • Expertise in ProEngineer design systems.
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to apply sound design principles. 
  • Knowledge and work experience with gas and/or diesel engines. 
  • History of solid engineering innovation performance.
  • Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ProEngineer - Wildfire.
  • Proficient in windows based Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in Minitab software.
  • Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
