Marine Engine Sales

Job Summary:
Marine Engine Sales

Promote the sales and profit margin of engines and related products in both existing and new markets, sold directly or indirectly to customers or dealers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Solicit customers and make sales calls for Cummins marine products
  • Maintain personal and regular contact with established customers and all potential new customers
  • Document sales contacts on a regular basis
  • Develop assigned account list and profiles of potential customers, including actions plans to obtain sales objectives
  • Monitor and report performance of sales programs
  • Report detailed information on completed sales, pending sales and lost business including reason for loss
  • Provide total support to assigned accounts both during and after sale
  • Act as a single point of contact to assigned accounts for information and support issues
  • Meet established sales and profit month/quarterly objectives
  • Maintain a complete and current listing of customer profiles and key personnel
  • Conduct formal presentations, as necessary, to close a sale, train dealers or provide expected service to customer
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to customers
  • Follow up with customers to answer questions.  Plan and execute dealer and customer meetings as required to maintain relationships and loyalty
  • Find two to three new accounts per month.  Make a minimum of one sales call on customer per month. 
  • Work closely with parts and Service Managers to ensure high quality customer service

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • General knowledge equivalent to two years of post secondary education
  • Two to three years of marine sales training or experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
  • Marine experience with Cummins, ReCon, or related product knowledge preferred
  • Ability to travel to customer’s office and facilities
  • Knowledge of application and engineering guidelines for Cummins marine engines

           

Skills and Abilities:

    • Marine technical aptitude
    • Basic computer skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to learn Company’s computer system
    • Strong negotiating skills
    • Strong presentation skills
